WordPress – Show Activity Log on the Frontend Dashboard

If you have been asked to create a site for a company that measures the online activity of each of their employees, and they have asked you to allow them to  see the activity of each person on the frontend so as not to have to deal with the backend, we think you’ll love this tutorial.

If your case is that of a customer who needs to measure user activity on a particular site, we also think it’s great to be able to create your own activity meter on the frontend with just a few clicks without knowing anything about programming.

For this we’ll use these two plugins:

  1. Activity Log: This plugins allows you to see your site’s activity log. You can get it here to install and activate it on your site.
  2. WP Frontend Admin: This tool helps you see and edit any page on the frontend with just one click.

After you’ve installed and activated the plugin, you need to follow these simple steps.

1- Open the Activity Log in wp-admin

This is the first step you need take. Open the Activity log in wp-admin by going to Activity Log.

2- View it on the frontend

To view the activity log on the frontend of your site, click on View on the frontend. This will automatically load your Activity log on the frontend.

3- Configure and publish the page

You need to configure the page’s quick settings. For this, our plugin will display a panel on the left side of the page. Here you can select the page’s title, URL slug, template, and menu.

You can also hide all unnecessary elements. For this just click on Hide element and then click on the elements you want to hide.

You can hide these elements:

  • Activity Log
  • Screen Options
  • Filters
  • Etc.

Remember it all depends on you. Just be careful not to hide elements you may need in the future.

After you’re done configuring the page’s quick settings and appearance, just click on Save to publish the page.

4- View the activity log on the frontend

In order to view the activity log, your users will need to log in.

After they log in, your users will be able to view the site’s activity log.

You need to be administrator to see the activity log on the frontend.

In case you don’t want to assign the administrator role, you can create a new user role with the User Role Editor plugin. This new user role needs the view_all_aryo_activity_log capability.
